Greetings Glymm Mere,

As we look forward to the new year, we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on the year we are bidding farewell to.

Despite all of the unexpected events, 2020 has been a year of changes and growth for the Barony. Our Seneschal, Exchequer, Arts and Sciences, Master of Stables, Herald, Web minister, Social Media, Chronicler, Chamberlain, and Scribe all have had new officers step in. We have had our Baronial changeover, one of the first virtual changeovers in both the society as well as the kingdom.

With the advent of social distancing, we have adapted and grown, first by being some of the first to begin presenting online classes and then by being one of the first to begin an online weekly social gathering. Despite not having our normal avenues of community involvement, we have actually grown with several new faces having joined us virtually. Our community is weathering the storm and working to grow stronger.

We look to the new year with a sense of cautious optimism as word of a vaccine offers hope for in person gatherings again. We still have some time before we can meet but the light at the end of the tunnel is there and growing brighter.  We look forward to coming out of this difficult time and gathering our community together in person once more.

For some 2020 was a time to embrace new avenues of interest and turn their hands to new skills, for others of us it was a time for healing and self-care. As a community we need to continue to respect our members and value each other’s contributions, as each gives according to their means.

We are grateful to all of you for the time and effort you have put in during 2020 in works both great and small. We want to thank you all for your patience and energy in keeping the Barony of Glymm Mere healthy and growing, and we look forward to seeing you all again in the coming year. We could not be more proud of the people of this Barony and the greatness you all continue to show.

Disa and Alasdair

10th Baroness and Baron of Glymm Mere

P.S., Yes, we are sure there will be many shenanigans and surprises in the year to come.
